Local Facilities

Just 2.5 miles from Greenbank is the tiny, loch-side conservation village of Stein with its excellent Loch Bay Restaurant (specialising in locally-caught fish and shellfish dishes, open Easter to October) and the Stein Inn (the oldest pub on Skye, offering light lunches and good evening meals from Easter to October and open all year for drinks).

The tranquillity which comes from Waternish being off the beaten track means that the shops are in Dunvegan, 15 minutes away by car. (If you are stuck for something, please ask us and we can probably help!) Dunvegan has a Post Office, a good bakers, an excellent greengrocery, a newsagent, a grocers, gift shops, a takeaway and a selection of restaurants. Close by is Dunvegan Castle which has a large gift shop and restaurant adjoining the car park outside the Castle gates.Other restaurants of quality, specialising in fresh, local food, can be found at a reasonable distance.

Portree, the principal village on the island, 30 minutes from Greenbank, is well worth a visit. Here you will find supermarkets and in a wide variety of shops you can buy almost anything you need, with a range of cafes, restaurants, pubs and take-aways (fish and chips, pizzas, Indian, Thai and Chinese).

ACCESSIBLE SKYE: in the bungalow you will find detailed information about restaurants that are wheelchair accessible, as well as a wide choice of shops, museums, points of interest and tourist attractions that can be enjoyed by a wheelchair user.
